Which cream is for me? (Posted on June 26, 2012 by Pure Pro)

I love massage cream and both the Ralph Stephens Medical Massage Cream and the Deep Tissue Massage Cream look great. What’s the difference between them? How do I choose which massage cream is best for me?

This is a good question, and the answer depends on your personal preferences, your clients, and on the type of work you do.

Pure Pro Deep Tissue Massage Cream

This Deep Tissue Massage Cream has a velvety, rich texture. It offers both grip and glide, slowing your strokes and allowing you to work deeply while still allowing for movement over the skin. The cream has more longevity on the skin than the Ralph Stephens Cream, so if you are a massage therapist who likes to revisit an area without having to reapply lubricant every time, the Deep Tissue Massage Cream might be a good choice for you. It’s perfect for intensive deep tissue and frictioning. Apply a little extra, and it’s great for general circulatory massage techniques, and it’s phenomenal for neck and facial work – non-greasy and super light.

Ralph Stephens Medical Massage Cream (DISCONTINUED)

The Ralph Stephens Medical Massage Cream is less viscous, with a lighter feel on the skin, somewhere between a typical cream and a lotion. Designed specifically for medical massage, it offers perfect control and contact with the skin and underlying muscle. If you struggle with slipping and sliding while struggling to maintain a constant pressure, this cream is just what you’re looking for! It’s perfect for orthopedic, neuromuscular, myofascial, and trigger point work. And because the Ralph Stephens Medical Massage Cream feels so light and residue-free, it’s wonderful for clients who have to return to work immediately after their massage. It’s phenomenal for neck and facial work, since it’s non-greasy and super light.

Both the Deep Tissue Massage Cream and the Ralph Stephens Medical Massage Cream are stellar products, made right here in the USA. Both are free of nut derivatives, appropriate for sensitive skin, and totally vegan and cruelty free. Both blend well with our oils, so if you use a cream for specific work and switch to an oil for all-over work, the combination won’t get gritty or sticky on the client’s skin.

Based on your typical massage, you might want to choose one over the other for your massage practice. Or get them both, and use whichever makes the most sense for your client on a case-by-case basis. Whichever you choose, we know you’ll love it as much as we do!
